PUBLIC NOTICE # 1 Advanced Warning

LOAD RESTRICTIONS

ADVANCE PUBLIC NOTICE

Pursuant to Section 66 of the Transportation Act, and to the provisions of the Commercial Transport Act, notice is hereby given that load restrictions may be placed on short notice in the near future on all highways within the Peace Highways District, as conditions warrant.

The Ministry of Transportation is continuously monitoring the weather and ground conditions to determine an appropriate date to implement load restrictions.

At this time, carriers, trucking, and transportation companies that need to mobilize equipment to sites over “spring break up” should do so at their earliest convenience to ensure equipment is in place where required through the duration of the load restriction period. The Ministry of Transportation will consider night hauling in the case where the road base remains frozen and overnight temperatures allow for sufficient surface refreeze. It is important to note that conditions may not allow for this to occur. Any approval for night hauls will be messaged through DriveBC.ca under Seasonal Load Restrictions.
